QUALITY CONTROL PROCESSES
In order to ensure that the quality control procedures, which are one of the basic principles of Kardemir, are mechanically and chemically compliant with the requirements of the international EN10204/3.1 Surveillance Certificate in both raw materials and products, our own laboratory was established in 2005 within our Izmir factory and all facilities are used to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
Quality Control Processes
All of our products are under the supervision of our Quality Control Specialists 24/7 throughout the entire process they go through in our factory, from the raw materials they are produced from until they are shipped.
In order to control the suitability of the raw material to be used in the production of the product, a chemical test is performed by taking samples from each casting of each log raw material lowered into the stack. In addition to the chemical test application, surface quality, visual, dimensional and etching controls are also performed in our own laboratory.
The 'Automatic Instant Alarm System', which is active while all our products are being produced, monitors the dimensional and shape conformity of the materials in the light of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, as well as the product dimensions and weight, accuracy and surface conformity according to international standards and/or special order requirements, and in cases where it does not, it sends an 'Error' warning to the relevant departments and guides our relevant Expert units in making the necessary corrections.
As a result of the inspection, the raw material found suitable is monitored and controlled from the moment it is included in the production. Our Quality Control experts inspects the products and packages that come out during the production process according to international standards and order requirements, report and label them. Engineers in the laboratory perform chemical tests; mechanical tests such as flow, tensile, elongation, bending and surface suitability checks. Final inspections on the products prepared for shipment are carried out by loading inspection engineers during loading and if the packages are suitable, exit permission is given with a barcode reader.
The tracking of packages produced or loaded can be monitored instantly thanks to barcoding and computer programs. Quality Control engineers who look after each production line also constantly visit the field and perform process controls. In all these processes, thanks to the ‘Warning’ and ‘Recording’ feature accompanied by the Automatic Instant Alarm System, we have the chance to intervene in unwanted situations before the material leaves our factory field.

Her üretim bandına bakan Kalite Kontrol mühendisleri de sürekli sahayı gezerek proses kontrolleri yapar. Tüm bu süreçlerde Otomatik Anlık Alarm Sisteminin eşliğinde ‘Uyarı’ ve ‘Kayıt Altına Alma’ özelliği sayesinde istenmeyen durumlara malzeme fabrika sahamızdan çıkmadan müdahale etme şansımız olmaktadır.
Our Quality Control Laboratory and Its Studies
Chemical analyses, mechanical and metallographic tests are carried out in 3 different locations within our Quality Control laboratory.
- Kardemir uses 2 Instron brand 10/100 ton tensile devices and an ECM 301 device for dimensional surface inspection, and performs resistivity, bending and mechanical straightening tests.
- In the chemistry laboratory, chemical analyses are performed on raw materials with 2 Spectrometer Arl 801 Model devices and again ARL XRF device. In the chemistry laboratory, there is a device for determining organic and inorganic Carbon from solids, and devices for determining Nitrogen/Oxygen/Hydrogen from solids. 25 different elements are determined.
- Micro and macro product inspections are carried out. The internal structures of the products produced are examined with a stereo metal microscope.
- All equipment used in our laboratories is subject to periodic calibration checks by accredited external laboratories.
- With our Laryee (150j-300j) brand notch impact testing machine, manual v-notch opening machine and our cooler for test samples up to -30 °C, tests can be carried out in accordance with ISO EN 148-1 standard.
- Our R&D laboratory also provides benefits in product development processes with baking, numbering, cutting and hardness measuring devices.
